A group of young leaders from across the Atlantic Provinces were given an opportunity to attend the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) and le Conseil Canadien de la Cooperation (CCC) 2008 Congress in Winnipeg Manitoba. (From left to Right) Mark Gorman (NBTA Credit Union), Laquita Normore (Eagle River Credit Union), Meghan Farrell (Nova Scotia Co-operative Youth Alliance), Noelle Cole (Malpeque Bay Credit Union), Trevor MacDougall (Atlantic Co-operative Youth Leadership) and Matt Ford (Advocate Youth Services Co-operative) took part in joint activities that included a National Youth Forum that enabled Canadian youth from the Anglophone and francophone co-operative movements to come together, share best practices, exchange knowledge, and participate fully in the 2008 CCA/CCC Congress. A big thank you goes out to Kathryn Foulds and Quintin Fox, both from the Canadian Co-operative Association for allowing us to participate in a very rewarding event.

The McEwen Scholarship was founded by Co-op Atlantic to honor the memory of W.H. McEwen, the organization's first General Manager. McEwen considered education of the utmost importance, including topics which addressed how co-operatives fulfill their social and economic responsibilities to the community. The McEwen Scholarship is an entrance scholarship awarded to two undergraduate university students each year.
